Description:
The GPS system is well known and will soon be joined by the European Galileo system. Japan is designing a system (QZSS) that is optimised for the region around Japan. This project looks at the requirements of a similar system if it were to be defined for Australia. Different orbit models need to be evaluated to maximise the number of visible satellites, and ensure they are wellspread across the sky. Other parameters such as teh Doppler frequency experienced by a receiver must also be checked.
