Topic Description

Topic ID: CR38
Topic Title: Sampling Requirements for Software Radio Satellite Navigation Receivers
Topic Offered Session: Both
Topic Supervisor: Andrew Dempster
Topic Description: This project will examine the analogue-to-digital conversion timing for a software radio satellite navigation receiver. In software radio, sampling is as close to teh antenna as possible. For a number of different signal combinations, sampling criteria will be generated from the sampling rate, signal power and bandwidth and other constraints. This will then place requirements on the ADC chip and the clock circuit. The student will need to establish the availability of appropriate ADCs and examine, through simulation if necessary, the abilty of the clock generator circuit to meet the requirements.
